Which one is the ultimate pair of boots for out?

I'm deciding between Alpina's Tundra model: https://www.lamnia.com/en/p/19054/apparel-and-footwear/alpina-tundra-46

Or its Trapper model: https://www.lamnia.com/en/p/19021/apparel-and-footwear/alpina-trapper-boots

Stop ruining your feet with this crap, wear sandals, if only because it's one of the few places where it's socially acceptable to do so

I got out of the Army Reserves in 2022. I do a lot of shooting and hiking. I'm no expert, but best I've found is both.
>breathability
>maneuverability
I use trail running shoes. Lighter weight. Better for running.
>water resistance
>ankle support
I use hiking shoes. The greater the concern for rolling your ankles, the higher you want the boots to go. Heavy, you want to shop right so your feet don't sweat too much. Have your sock game on point. Works best for me, I don't know if the answer is suitable to you.

As a jack of all trades regarding versatility of use, plus Grayman factor, mid-cut or high-cut?

I own the Trappers but they are big and heavy, will switching them with the Tundras sacrifice anything significant?

Please check OP links.

How should I determine the correct size for my combat boots? One finger behind the heel when toes are in front? How about width? I received a pair of boots that I ordered online and now I will have to decide whether I'll keep them or return them to the store.

Next time try them on in the shop before you look for a deal online.
Then if you like them order a couple more pairs because you won’t be able to find the same again next time.
Wait more than a couple of days though - I have 3 pairs of the same shoe, they’re as uncomfortable as they appear to be indestructible. Oh well, something to wear around town I guess.

Only advantage of high-cut boots is that the water gets harder in if you are hiking in a stream.

For the past 3-4 years I've had a air of Salomon Men's Quest 4s, or GTX. Or something idk they look like this. They're harder to get on and off than other boots but have held up great for me, other than a bit of wear they're as good as they've ever been. I'd recommend them.

I've never used a pair of hiking/running shoes. I don't know about you guys but shoes don't last.
>>
>>2730547
what is your out? if it's hiking more than 3 miles, your picks are dogshit.

If it's just stomping around the woods and shooting guns into trash, both are decent.

For me, it's the Oboz Sawtooth II. Can't say I have any complaints. They were my first hiking boot and have been doing me well in all my excursions. They take a real good beating, too. They come in waterproof and non-waterproof varieties as well.

High-Cut has ankle support, you won't hurt it as easily when carrying large loads in terrain.

When I'm traveling light I might not use shoes at all though
>>
>>2732247
Grey man is a meme from /k/
It's the consept of dressing so normal that you won't be seen, and can easily hide in crowds, like urban camo
>>
>>2732264
It was hilarious when youtubers started doing "grayman EDC loadout" shit, and every last one of them thought it meant "everything I wear must be gray".

>>
>>2732346
The common viper is not really dangerous.
>>
>>2732347

why do people keep asking about shoes?
It depends entirely on individual preference and conditions.
Wear whatever's comfortable OP, nobody can help you but you.
>>
>>2730547
boots are for low exertion winter activities or mountaineering and nothing else

Mid most of the time, high for swamplands and deep snow, low for hard terrain.
>inb4 ankle support
You need ankle support with extremely high loads (think military rucks at full capacity), but in tough terrain, being able to bend your ankles so the sole can grip the terrain properly is much more important. Same reason freeclimbers don't wear mountain boots.

I'd recommend avoiding any shoe that has any sort of foam sandwiched between the upper, and the sole. From my personal experience, the foam loses it's density rather quickly,if you carry any substantial weight.I've destroyed many a shoe, while carrying 100 lbs for short distances a couple of times. The foam becomes damaged, leaving you with a mushy feeling shoe, that increases foot fatigue.
