>>
>>4305078
based on price I actually paid, of what i actually use regularly
bodies (6x) ~ $15k, lenses ~ (20x) $14k
then another 4-5k across lighting, video accessories, other accessories, batteries & storage
i take mostly pictures of toilets >>4301808 and then sometimes animals like >>4298865 or >>4303209, sometimes people too, but rarely post those
>>
>>4305118
Did you get the E series working?
I can't figure out how to open the battery to repack the cells.
>>
>>4305129
my friend is rebuilding the battery with a lipo, voltage regulator and usb charging for me but it's on the backburner for now
i opened the pack myself with a dremel tool, thing is completely glued together.
>>

>i opened the pack myself with a dremel tool, thing is completely glued together
Have any photos of it?
I kept thinking you could lift the steel latch tab and pull off the end cap.
>>
>>4305135
>>4305134
get a room faggots
>>
>>4305135
nah, its all glued together, the metal tab can be bent outwards but that would just break it and not help with disassembly at all.
sorry no pics

>>4305136
no im an exhibitionist
>>
uhh
Nikon 105mm micro (to use on free Nikon D40 I had) $400
OM System OM-5 with 40-150 f4-5.6 $1000
Oly 60mm macro $200
Oly 75-300mm $200
Oly 12-45mm $300
Voigt 42.5mm f/0.95 $400
Flashes and transmitter about $150
Diffuser about $5
Tripod and head like $500 jesus christ these can be expensive if you don't want a heavy piece of shit
Prices are very approximate. If I were to start from scratch with about $3200 I'd probably invest in a different system, but otoh it's just a hobby, I am not an artist and I have plenty of disposable income. It gets the job done. I kinda miss the D40 though, I'm not sure what it is about it exactly (lenses?). I think the low DR looks nice.

D7000 350€
Nikon 35 /1.8 150€
Nikon 70-210 /4 90€
Sigma 10-20 /4-5.6 200€
Samyang 28-70 /3.5-4.5 15€

Casio Exz110 40€
Nikon coolpix S2600 30€
Panasonic Lumix Gx850 250€
Bunch of filters, adapter rings and such ~100€
Both compact cameras were technically second hand but they had the precinct, they were unsold stock from a shop that closed. The rest was second hand in good/mint condition during the last 10 years. I didn't count a lumix LX100, D3300 and a couple film cameras because I sold them for the same as I paid.

I won't list absolutely everything because over nearly two decades there's been a lot of shit I've bought that I don't use anymore and I could have sold. So this is basically my current line up, although the manual lenses are rarely used and could conceivably be sold and I also have a couple others knocking around somewhere that I could use but probably never will (28mm Nikon shift lens and a CZJ 135mm). I also don't really need a second body.

A7 Classic - £500 with the L bracket
A7R III - £900 with the L bracket
RX100 IV - £425 with the grip

55mm f/1.8 - £260
16-35mm f/4 - £350
Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro - £130
Sigma 150-500mm - £260
Pentax 50mm f/1.2 - around £300 I think, it was so long ago I don't have a record of it
Samyang 14mm f/2.8 - £225

LA-EA4 with monster adapter - £330
LA-EA3 - £145
Godox TT350S - £70
Amaran HC100 ring flash - £60 or so
Bluetooth remote - £30
Wired remote - £20
Giottos 9361B and Triopo NB-3S - probably around £150
Manfrotto Pixi Evo - £40
Memory cards, batteries, filters, and maybe some other small bits - say £150

So that all totals to £2520. I think I've done alright for the money, a lot of it was used off Ebay that I got good deals on. If I was to get rid of the A7 and the two manual lenses I could probably get back around £750. I have considered getting rid of the Tamron 90mm and LA-EA4 and getting the Sony 90mm instead for not much more money, but I like having the option of screw drive A mount lenses in the future.

Canon 1000d: got some kind of discount so it was 350 euros i think, back in 2008 or 9.
M6 mkii with evf and kitlens, 22, 32 and 56 mm lens: around 2000 euros.

35mm GM 1.2k used
20mm G 700 used

Professional or hobby, and what sort of stuff? The fact your estimate varies by such a significant amount makes me think it's many lower priced items as opposed to say $5k+ tele primes, more like you've upgraded your body every other year.
>>
Over $4k but under $5k. Still need a flash for indoor and lowlight photography.
>>
Slightly under $9000 currently without extra batteries and bags and such
>>
>>4305345
Damn the RF L lenses are so expensive
>>
>>4305359
yeah. I've got three of those listed for sale currently, going to change it up. thinking: 14-35 f/4, ef85/1.2, and my 100-500 + 2x should be plenty of coverage. I'll keep the nifty fifty too
>>
>>4305078
'bout tree fiddy
>>
camera $840(with extra battery and charger)
glass ~$3320 over 6 lenses(one of them cost $40 though)
filters ~$250
camera tripods ~$120
bags ~$225
straps ~$40
flash + flash transmitter + accessories: $293
lighting accessories: ~$120
I don't remember what I paid for the SD cards and reader.
So a bit over $5k in total.
Future purchases:
>standard zoom around $1000 as I still don't own one
>new body for $1500-2000 depending on what I can find second hand
and some accessories like a macro slider maybe
beyond this I'll have all I could need and might think about replacing some lenses

Photography is actually a 50% female hobby (or more if you lower the standards for what is photography)

Why do you think so many people on /p/ like retro cameras, especially reflex? Women love OVFs. Men have a tool-like relationship with cameras so they prefer modern mirrorless bodies that just get out of their way.

Nigga thats not what i said can u even read? Do you understand a word im saying? Do i need to dumb it down for you? The statement that men dont prefer optical viewfinders was a blatantly wrong one, hence the sarcastic remark. Do i need to put it in a language you understand?? Gogo gaga wahh wahh. Is that better? Baby want the bottle too? Maybe give you a little bounce and a pat to help you burp? Maybe its bedtime for you.

I bought a Herman Miller Aeron to complain from which made me feel very mid-30s. I like complaining about taxi fares (I can't afford them) and how people won't get vaccinated for covid.

This chair is probably my biggest accomplishment in life. I'll never get married or have kids or own a house but I'll always have my Herman Miller chair! :)

You should get a monochrome leica and only use it from your herman miller chair.

It’s my profession yes, but also my hobby. Just an all consuming passion.

Yeah it’s many many lower priced items over the years. Buy, sell, trade up, trade down. One year my apartment got robbed, some cash of my girlfriend’s was taken, but I had my equipment insured so I claimed it (even though it had been on the trip I was away on while getting burgled), and was paranoid about keeping it all, so I sold the lot and bought new kit.

Favorite gear of all time? My D700 was a trooper. Put about 600-700k frames on it over 10ish years, even replaced the shutter both times it failed. Eventually gave it up because the files were just too small and I wanted a backup card slot. Ricoh GR, every incarnation has been great. Lens wise I’ve had so many favorites. The Nikon 50mm f/1.2 AI-S is great, I’ve had two of them. First one was burned in a fire. The Voigtlander 40 f/2 ultron is a supremely nice feeling lens, small, produces great results, I used it throughout Asia and loved the results. I use lots of different focal lengths but gun to my head, I could probably downsize to just a 28 and 50 and be totally content.

I’d say my current kit is my favorite ever, 2 Z9s, the 14-30, 50 1.2 GM, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and a 2X teleconverter. It all fits in one case, gives me everything from ultrawide to supertele, I can even fit a MBP and two speedlights and a variety of filters. Feels like a very versatile powerful package.

I'm waiting for nikon to release a TC compatible 70-300 f4 or f2.8-4 before going in on Z teles

Other than the 400mm f4.5 and 180-600 i'm not very impressed

>Tallied up ebay sales and profits with shipping and tax included, tried to get a basic idea of film costs based on the number of negatives and scans I have
I have paid $1503 as punishment for being an indecisive retard trying to save money and only disappointing and frustrating myself to end up with a $3603 camera setup, $772 of which I do not really need or even use unless I force myself to.

I have spent roughly $1000 on film and processing alone and roughly $500 on film gear in the past year, and have probably 40 rolls before that chilling with 4x6s in a shoebox. Cost unknown.

Total idiot fee:
$6606

How much I would have spent if I simply bought one very good full frame camera and a 24-70:
~$3000

Middle class raised by poors neurosis btw, the wasted sum is <10% of my yearly disposable income

Just don't do what I did and make yourself settle for less than you can actually afford to be "responsible" because going back on that is as irresponsible if not more

Never crop cope, just go top shelf FF and keep it for 20 years like the boomers still using their 1d for tourism photography

Nope that's someone else. I avoid posting about my gear, or these days posting almost at all.
>no one responds to anything in rpt anymore

it happened 2 years ago and i spent around 16-17 grand total (i think) - and that was also my first ever experience with a camera (i didnt even own a digishit before)
i think i even made a post about it

the idea was me getting everything i needed to start doing portraiture/fashion/editorials
the reality was my country being so shit that nothing except weddings and commercial bullshit is worth doing
the conclusion was; photography is not worth shit in my country and now its just me selling all of my gear for almost 50% of the price i bought it for, in hopes i can at least get some of my money back

moral of the story is; always triple check the current state and worth of photography and photographers in your country, before spending a single penny on photo gear
>>
>>4306686
oh yeah, i also bought an asus proart laptop for the whole GREATEST IDEA EVER autismo spree, i completely forgot about that one
so add another 3.2k to the total money spend

That's every country. Actually, my sister's wedding photographer went on to shoot fashion. If you're good and you can handle the bs it's not a bad way to start doing portraits.
>>
>>4306690
thing is i wanted to (and still do want to) avoid doing weddings by any means possible
have a bunch of friends who quit photography altogether, after 1 or 2 or many years of doing it, because of wedding related bullshit and stress
