A mysterious and relatively rare creature, at first glance it looks like a fantasy creature that's simply out of place for its native cave environment (looking like a flower), but the moment you stop to think about it, its design inspirations make perfect sense. It's a poisonous mineral monster, and plenty of minerals can form into fantastical and beautiful shapes. I love my asbesthos boy.

It takes the myth of a baby-carrying stork and the fact of birds dropping hard-shelled prey from on high to break them, and morphs them into the idea of a smug asshole monster who just drops shit on top of others for the hell of it. There's a certain purity to the dickass bird concept that reminds me of gen 1 monsters like Lickitung, and not so surprisingly the gen 2 betas actually had something that resembled Bombirdier in them that got scrapped. I don't mind them taking a bit longer to cook it because in the end it's just so delightful.

They got me using actual Cobalion and Virizion too, so that's something.Going back a bit one Gen, I do love the new Regis, the Galar Birds, and have a fondness for Cursola and Runerigus. Really hoping the latter two come back for another game so I can transfer up my Runerigus and breed me a black Cursola to train up.

At first I didn’t care much about Calyrex but the story and the ice rider form really pulled me in. Hands down best current mon for me. Plus, you can’t go wrong with capes.
