You sorta use the clone brush in photoshop/paintshoppro to make backrounds first (e.g. TMNTT), then animate the character limbs back in, in Flash5/FlashMX. Not all of them are very interesting; I nearly gave up on the superman one.

Uhh afaik there aren't any guides, which is why they look kinda messy/odd. There are tutorials on basic motion tweens and easing in/ouot though, but all the modern versions of flash use character rigs which I'm not familiar with.

I used to get my scans from #comic-scans off rizon.net but they've taken down their bots that pumped out the recent issues. I had fun there while it lasted, but its all gone now.
