Recent news:
TVC HasLab Cantina leaked. Two different offerings - a standard set for $399 and a Deluxe set for $499. Reports form people that saw the page said it included 6 figures (3 included and another 3 as tiers). All were Cantina patrons and not main characters.

I feel like I'll stick with that carboard pop up diorama from the 90's. I'm not realy interested in what I see in the pic, only the aliens. Should have made it the Ebon Hawk, or a vehicle from Droids with a bunch of figures.
>>
>>10994854
This is the level of laziness I've come to expect from Hasbro. I've been weak, continuing to buy their toys way longer than I should have. It's time to finally call it quits.
>>
>>10994851
This is frankly embarrassing. You could design this from all primitives in like 20 mins and 3D print it. It's so damn cheap looking, where is the value?
>>
>>10994857
Aren't you the faggot that defended Hasbro making Boba Fett a $30 exclusive because of how "expensive" the accessories were and got laughed out of this general?
>>
>>10994867
I explained the reasoning: accessory count, the parts in the figure(his chest is multiple parts) and more deco. I recall you throwing fits and using swears like a 5-year-old trying to impress his friends, and playing whatsboutism games.

I don’t mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but here we go I guess. I fear that the reason this haslab looks so shitty is on purpose. They know that people have been saying that they would buy a haslab of only background characters for years and by releasing this overpriced, half-baked version, it will be doomed to failure and then the people at hasbro who hate Star Wars will have all the ammo they need to never try anything like it again.

The factt hat they can't be bothered to retool - or look for the molds for - the female pilot torso makes it a no-buy for me.
I mean this figure is from 2008 and also has a unique helmet. Don't fucking tell me it would be "too expensive" either as you could re-use the buck for a Jaina Solo re-release, X-wing pilot Leia and others.
They aren't even looking past tomorrow for their bottom line.

I've personally never had an issue with em but shit does happen, especially when it comes to mass bulk shipments of toys from across the sea to here.

At least Black Series has the whole squad. All TVC has is Hunter and no signs of the rest of them coming. And knowing Hasbro they will put the other members in their season 2/3 designs and Hunter will remain in his standard armor.

does the new TVC Mines of Mandalore Mando have uneven legs or is this reviewer just bad at posing?

I have a previous beskar TVC Mando with uneven legs and I'd like to not make the same mistake.

thanks
>>
>>10997039
The left knee is bent while the right knee is straight. They're the same figures.
>>
>>10997053
I know those two are, but the legs being wonky gave me pause considering my previous Mando also had wonky legs.
>>
>>10997039
Having watched all of his videos, I wouldn't say Toys Are the Way is bad at posing at all. He's even got videos specifically just about posing certain figures. I also have the version of Mando from the N-1 which is the same figure and I don't really see any issues with the legs being uneven.
>>
>>10997185
Why are so many toy reviewers terrible at posing? Not even Star Wars specifically but some other lines I collect too. I wonder how they even get viewership in the first place sometimes.
>>
>>10997185
thank you very much

>>10997196
>I wonder how they even get viewership in the first place sometimes.
probably being the first to have stuff. I could probably watch most reviews muted and get the same information out of them. with Hasbro's digital renders, I just wanna see the physical product.
>>
>>10997196
It's not just reviewers, a lot of collectors in general just don't care. They see it as a toy, and no amount of good posing is gonna make it look real anyway. Plus a lot of people just aren't super familiar with the subtleties of natural movement.
>>
>>10997196
>>10997239
There are people in this very thread that didn't realize the latest TVC Stormtrooper's upper hip isn't a symmetrical piece so you have to face it the right way to get full range of motion out of it, a lot of people just really do not care as much as you might expect about doing good poses.

(to not just be a condescending jackass, if you're reading this and also don't know what I'm talking about with the Stormtrooper hips, on the inner hinge piece one side is textured and the other is not, you want the textured side pointing outward for good standing-at-attention poses, and if you want the leg going forward for a kneeling pose you want the textured side facing towards the back)

This is true. I know I've seen it plenty of times even on this board where people are doing walking poses but have the arm swinging forward on the same side as the leg, despite themselves (presumably) being a human being who walks every day.

The airborne trooper is a worse example of "why the fuck haven't they made this in black series yet," like they basically made the figure but painted it black for the purge troopers and just never made a white variant with a bit of cloth and a chest harness.
>>
>>10995090
It looks like his helmet is too big for the rest of him there, what did republic commando fans do to not get decent representation of them in figure form since the old 3.75in figures?

Speaking of Mando Luke, I’m surprised no one has talked about this yet. JNB toys (the same company that did that 1/12 soft goods Maul), are doing a 1/12 soft goods “Mandalorian” Luke, although it looks more like a cross between the ROTJ Jabba’s palace outfit and Mando Luke which I don’t really mind since I would prefer a good ROTJ Luke than yet another Mando Luke. They basically shrunk down Hot Toys Mando Luke and ROTJ Luke and it looks okay.

>>11005803
They probably will at some point. The TVC versions of Hera and Sabine for their Rebels looks are both using their live action likenesses. These reissues were probably already approved before Ahsoka was filming.

rebels was 100% a disney creation though
sure, filoni's had the idea since the original tcw but all the characters were made under disney

I mean it’s also about meeting that person and talking to them for a minute and the autograph is proof I guess you met them I guess. I have a few autographs from conventions in town and mileage may vary. Some people I met were very nice and tried to talk to you whereas others basically just signed it and moved on. I think an autograph mixed into a display with figures of that character can enhance a display too. Buying an autograph though is kind of weird though, unless maybe it’s someone who’s dead and you really care about.

That Jabba is pretty good since they literally just took the 6" one and downscaled it. The rancor is alright but it's a sculpt that was almost a decade old even at the time this set was released so it's got a lot of older articulation. Not sure if you can find this set for a decent price though.

I bought boss for £20 at a stall in the convention when I asked the question abouht getting it signed to sell it on etc here

I inevitably decided not to get boss signed because the initial investment cost (£85 for a signiature, im not making that up)
it is by far not the most absurd pricing for stuff like this i've ever seen
so I just queued up to ask Temura some questions (just stuff like "in a future movie or tv show would you personally like boba to meet omega?", stuff like that)
one of the questions I asked was "do you remember voicing boss?" as a guy on /tg/ asked me if I could, and I showed the figure to him
he said he unfortunately didnt remember (and that all he could remember about republic commando was just how busy it was) and went to sign the figure
I told him that I hadnt paid for a signiature and he said thats fine, he insisted on signing it

so I got boss signed by temura for free

He's one of those actors who slid into a role & really enjoyed it to the point he didn't mind being typecast, jumping at any chance to stick to it. Ian likewise wants to play Palpatine any chance he gets now since he's been at it since ROTJ(we'll ignore the chimp-eyed ESB version... one of the few SE changes for the best).

But it shows how in love with Lucas people are that so few complain about him dubbing over Wiingreen in the SE edits. You just know if Disney had done that same edit it would be endless cries of "they're erasing white men!"
>>
>>11008321
Yeah but Lucas did it for story cohesion. Disney WOULD have done it to ruin white men.
>>
>>11008319
I don't even get why Dawson campaigned for the role, she seems to have no grasp on how to play her. Live action Ahsoka sounds bored all the time. I don't know if it's because Dawson can't be assed to give her more emotion or if this is her attempt at sounding wise and mature, but she doesn't even feel like the same character. With Sabine even though she's also a different actress she did at least feel like the same character and I never felt that from Ahsoka.
>>
>>11008337
Yes, remind us again to never forgive and never forget with the vintage Slave 1 picture, we know
>>
>>11008337
This. Lucas made the originals with strong conservative views in mind, so if he ever replaced an actor with an ethnic one it was only for story reasons. He never replaced an on-camera white actor with a minority because that would have been antithetical to his conservative views. Then Disney came along and shoved all of their gross politics into it.

The thing about politics in Star Wars is that so many people grew up watching it and having the politics go over their heads because they were too young to notice them or the specific politics weren't really on their radar, so like someone who watched the originals in the 90's as a kid would definitely not pick up on the Nixon/Vietnam stuff. But when you grow up seeing a work through an apolitical lens you mistake the work itself for being apolitical, so when a followup work also features politics (sometimes even the same politics) you recognize you say "whoa when did this get so political"
>>
>>11008716
It's funny that the entire Star Wars theme park experience was built around this "immersive" experience where they expected people to want to roleplay but both Galaxy's Edge and the Starcruiser failed because Disney didn't seem to realize that they were never going to have that many people who wanted to play pretend. This isn't even just a Disney-era thing, even at the peak of Star Wars popularity the number of theme park guests that were going to be willing to show up and call themselves Dram Tumo and tell park staff that they're from the planet Jawatan and transport Nimafarks for a living was always going to be really, really small.

>>
>>11008739
Imagine the suction
>>
>>11008742
It also seemed like it's not set up to give you as much control over the storyline as they advertised and you just kind of get shoved into whatever storyline they choose regardless of your actions. I think that's why the actors seemed kind of cold towards roleplay attempts since their earpieces are probably telling them who to engage with and who to try to brush off.

I mean it has to be pretty hard to play a role with a specific script and schedule while also having a bunch of people trying to play their own role and making the story about them (especially when this is what the marketing is encouraging them to do) so I don't think the actors are to blame. It just seems like the entire thing just wasn't set up to do the exact thing that it was advertised to do.
>>
>>11008763
It came off as incredibly half assed. Like they had grand ideas and just gave up 1/3 of the way through actually implementing them.

>>
>>11008771
Yeah both GE and GS had the same problem where the concept art had a ton of cool shit and they even announced a bunch of features that never got implemented so what you get feels like a really stripped down version of what you were sold. I don't think it's as big a problem for GE because even if it's not all that it could've been it's still a standard theme park land, but GS really needed to fire on all cylinders to work and it feels even worse because they make you pay thousands for it and people clearly weren't getting their money's worth.

The idea of this sort of thing sounds neat in theory, but I would not be able to feel immersed with the knowledge that I'm speaking to actors who've done this a hundred times while surrounded by other normal people wandering around vying for their attention as well.
>>
>>11008781
JJ Abrams didn't have grand ideas. He had an empty box.
>>
>>11009225
flip your theory. You'd think that you might feel silly, but you might feel different IN the ship, surrounded by the immersion. no seams at all. it was easier to play along.

"you", the character, are simply a space tourist going on a space cruise. which is what you are really doing. and then the adventure happens around that.
>>
>>11009233
Yeah that's what it's supposed to be but in practice it didn't really work. The actors don't have the flexibility needed to actually roleplay with you. The thing was basically a two day dinner theater with audience participation rather than a fully immersive role play experience.

hes a huge liberal. just look at all the other piles of shit he was involved with. Full of africanworship documentaries and indiana jones muh nazis. Lando was brought in because they cried there were no black characters. HIS WIFE AND KIDS ARE BLACK. the empire is a combination of Nazi Germany and British Imperalism. Palpatine is hitler. Vader is the SS. stormtroopers are the brownshirts who were literally called stormtroopers. its not a bad thing they are based on such though because it's part of the appeal. the empire is "cool" for the same reason the nazis are. and the reason they both incite so much attraction and fascination. I always laugh my ass off when there is some fat fuck BLM dicklicking faggot that has wankstations dedicated to popculture characters like Vader or thinks Vikings are cool or some shit who have no problem killing and gnociding people without hesitation, then will literally be nearly in tears at the mention of someone propping up Hitler or some shit. LMAO

Its just that liberals are so dysgenic and subhuman today that a liberal from the 1970s/80s is basically a modern day conservative. and even though George was personally a cuck, he wasn't necesarily forcing his cuckold agenda on the audience. The empire were the bad guys to him, but I would bet more star wars fans were more attracted to the empire than the rebels. Where as the "Disney Nazis", the "First Order" there is nothing remotely attractive about them and the purpose of them is to politically indoctrinate people to see them as pathetic, unlikeable, incapable, etc.

Sounds like they tried to imitate the Blade Runner 2049 experience from SDCC like 20 years ago, but did it poorly.
3 hour long line to play a 3 minute VR game shooting down a perp from your car (moving chair), then stepping out of the ride area, inspecting the prep's car crash, talking to police (2 or 3 actors) with other people just doing whatever, then going through a rainy room to follow the perp into a crowded "street."

There were like 20 actors in that street area you had to search for in a sea of other people playing the game and find out who the perp is. There were whores, bums, business men, chefs, cleaners, etc who all had their bits they played and did it well. I talked to some whore and a bum for five minutes to see how far their script went, but it was mostly improv apart from the important clues.
They even had a "restaurant" that served noodles and there was a bar that gave out vials of Johnnie Walker whiskey.

Every once in a while someone found the perp, who was hauled away and apparently another of the actors in the "street" became the next perp, because someone was caught twice while i was there (about an hour). Didn't get to see what the "winner" got, but some of the machines gave out tshirts, umbrellas, and other stuff just by scanning your badge. There were other interactive things, like getting checked if you were a replicant or accusing others.

So everyone who went to the BR2049 experience got something and possibly even continued playing the game til you won, because they didn't chase people out and nwe people (and actors) kept coming in.
Completely free, btw and watching the movie was weird when that street scene happened, because i visited a fictional place and was familiar with it. It was more than a background.

I think stuff like this works if you have the chance to do it multiple times to get more of the experience. Starcruiser would've been more popular if it was affordable enough that people could go on it again and again to experience different storylines. It seems like the whole experience was designed with this in mind but Disney didn't consider that not that many people were going to drop $4-6k multiple times. At that price point it was the kind of thing most families were only going to be able to do once if they could do it at all.
>>
>>11009535
yeah it's worth remembering that starcruiser got announced in 2017 before the movies started crashing and burning so because tfa and rogue one made bank they thought people would pay anything for star wars
>>
>>11009535
my friends and I discussed if we would do it again, now that we knew what it was all about, we might be able to have more fun with it, lean into the roleplay more, make sure we see the stuff we missed the first time

but we all agreed that kind of ruins it. it's supposed to be a real event you lived. doing it again would take away memories from the first time, if that makes sense.

so it's maybe a bad business model to give an experience they really only can do once, especially considering the type of wealthy person (or life-savings-sacrificing) pool of customers will eventually disappear

if it was a new adventure? absolutely go. but that's never going to happen, since this experiment failed.

but hey, they could at least give us some figures of the characters to help us remember the thing
>>
>>11009535
>>11009546
It's weird that Disney just would not budge on the price. If they lowered it they would've made less profit up front but it would've potentially led to more profit long-term if a lower price meant the Starcruiser could've survived longer.

If they can pull the soft goods off as well as they did with Morgan Elsbeth then I'll be real happy with it.

>>11009802
My guess is they put her in a two pack of some kind. Either with Tarkin on the new officer body or in a set with R2 and he has some kind of hologram accessory. That would pair nicely with the eventual new farmboy Luke.

I'll be honest, sometimes it's hard to tell if some of these comments about George and the OT (not knowing how political is it is) is ironic shit posting or pure ignorance. While George's points are timeless (like the PT), a lot of them are clearly Vietnam lessons learned. I mean, Return of the Jedi hits you over the head with it, in the most cute way possible.
>>11008234
Same thing happened to my B2 Super Battle Droid Amazon order. I just ordered it from BBTS too. If it changes back, I'll remove one or the other.
>>
>>11010232
I've heard the same shit enough times to know it's probably not ironic. It's not even just with Star Wars, a lot of longtime franchises with definitely political leanings end up with people who grew up with it, never caught onto the politics, and don't notice until a new installment comes out. I've seen so many people complain that the Final Fantasy 7 remakes suddenly have a bunch of messaging that they see as liberal and it's like, no, that was there in the original game but it just went over your head when you were 11.
>>
>>11008242
Robots and Bucket-heads are the only thing that really sells. Hasbro knows this.

Aliens and Jedi are just filler.

You have to understand that once they’re rambling about the political shit in the toy thread, that person is too far gone to engage with. Normal people with their heads on straight don’t launch into a tirade about the Jewish conspiracy in Star Wars toy discussions. There’s no changing their mind, there’s no helping that person, they have dug themselves deep into an antisocial lifestyle. They’re like crazy bums on the subway, you just have to ignore them and walk on by and let them stew in their own hyper-online insanity. This is the life they’ve chosen for themselves.

Maybe you two are right. I am pretty confused by this stuff most of the time. I really choose to believe it's ironic shit posting. It's kind of amazing to see how much things have changed in the Star Wars community for better or worse. I feel like arguments that comes up all the time, are never in good faith anymore unless you are talking in person, but even it muddied by endless culture wars fighters. Like most of everyone here, I really wish Disney didn't buy Star Wars and George held onto it. Maybe this is also just a big reflection of the internet and people being farmed for anger for clicks.
>>11010558
He has like several names at this point. It seems Star Wars just likes dropping the first name on things for now. Look at the Havoc Marauder. It's just called the Marauder now for some silly reason. I always personally call him BK or Black Krrsantan since that's how I was introduced to him. Does anyone really care about what's on the box besides TVC collectors or errors?

I figured it's just because in the show they never called or referred to him as Black Krrsantan, just Krrsantan. And to be fair, saying Black Krrsantan every time is a mouthful. Even in the comics people always shorten it to Santo or BK. This figure was revealed right after the show aired, so I don't think his name is banned, especially when he's a Disney created character anyway. If there was a problem with the name, I would think it's because Carey Jones is black and maybe people felt awkward addressing him as "Black" at the time the show was filming so they decided to just call him by the more Wookie sounding name.

Just scored these two at my local target for $5 a piece, because they didn't have them in the system, so it turns out target IS still carrying TVC, but they also did take it out the system. I was honest with the workers and told them that they haven't carried the line in like 2 months, they were previously $15, but Walmart had just raised em to $18, and I was hoping target still had them at their old price. Lady was like fuck it, you can have it for $5 (she even let me get a second figure, which was my plan anyways if they were $15 or less each).

Nta and you are right, still I think with time they will drop the black because Disney is afraid of everything, specially a 5 hour video explaining why calling him black is racist. You can also get them to price match that new wave for the $9 price they are showing them as on the website because of the sale. You just have to pull up the direct page since the app won't show them if you search for it on there since they technically aren't available yet.

I got a beskar Mando because I messed up the arm to my old one when trying to mod his backpack with magnets, and I wanted the updated look anyways, but this was a bit foolish, in hindsight, because I do plan on getting the N-1, which also comes with the same updated Din djarin. Regardless, my plan for my old one was to chop it up, and use the armor as spare armor bits for the blacksmith to play with.
>>
>>11011092
Well now you can have one in the N-1 at all times. That's what I did with my extra. And then I'm gonna wind up with a few more when the release him again with barbell hips.
>>
>>11011104
did they confirm rereleasing the s3 outfit yet again just for slightly easier hips with no improvement in range of motion? thought they were only doing it for the s1 blurrg packin
>>
>>11011104
Ugh, yeah, that was so disappointing! I was like, ooh, better ankles! But then! The same old hips... Oh well.
The E-wing looked really cool, so maybe I'll just forgo the N-1 entirely.

I bought a thrift store baggie of various toys and in it was a tiny Chewy figurine, like something from a Mighty Max playset. He's holding his bowcaster and has a green base. Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what it's from? I don't have pictures.

They didn't confirm it but it's more than likely going to be used for that pipelined one with the Gideon trooper jetpack. I believe the sculptor said he already made the change on the figure. I just hope they retool more than that for him. His flak vest on the Beskar version needs the correct detailing and with the jetpack, the current way Mando is keyed for his is a lot different than what the standard has been on other Mandalorians. It would be shitty if they keyed it to only fit Mando and prevent it from being used with other figures.

Hard to say, the Mafex Mandos are around the same size as the Black Series, but their Bobas are huge. Just seems to vary. Hopefully Bo isn't a giant. I've been wanting to replace the Black Series for years, never looked that good to me.

It's outdated though plus they might not actually have it anymore. Word is most of their old molds are lost.

I've actually wondered if they had some rule about using male bodies for female characters and vice versa. I think it would open up some more reuse potential if they don't lock molds to genders. For example they could repaint Omega into young Boba Fett.

Found this little guy at my logical toy shop today for 20 dollars and decided to pick him up. I'll be sad to rip open the nostalgic packaging, but this is most affordable way it seems to get the B1 Battle Droid now with the "battle damage". >>
>>11013201
No, all of these are straight reissues
>>
>>11013196
They have been reissuing things, they're just mixed into the waves and sometimes weird choices. There was Shae Vizsla and Starkiller, then the next wave had Cassian Andor and Finn. Now we're getting the ANH Stormtrooper and R2-D2 to go with Vader and Leia.
>>
>>11013291
Yeah I guess but those aren't part of this weekly fan channel reissue "event" if you want to call it that. Don't see why they couldn't restart production on a few TVC figs alongside these and give them to fan channel to throw us collectors a bone. Or maybe they didn't see much point since the regular waves have basically become primarily repacks now.
>>
>>11013357
>Or maybe they didn't see much point since the regular waves have basically become primarily repacks now.
Pretty much. I think that is the whole idea behind the fan channel waves at least. We get two new figures and two repacks as a way to offset whatever new tooling there is.
