Anyone else fascinated by the idea of taking on thing, and combining various features to another?
I always love this stuff, even if it's unrealistic.
Remember this Human Dog that was making the rounds years ago?
I always wonder what a cat dog would look like, or a bird bat, maybe even a fish man would look like.
How would such creatures adapt, what new niches would be formed.
Imagine a dolphin with hands, what kind of things would they do with those hands?
These are the kind of questions that keep me up at night.

They already have. Your favorite dorito flavor was most likely extracted from GM bacteria. Your alcohol is definitely produced by modified organisms and some portion of the food you eat is modified

Rat owners. Are rats as dirty as guinea pigs?
>>
>>4802538
Yes. Even worse arguably.
>>
>>4802558
Haven't owned pigs, are rats worse or smell more unpleasant if, their cage isn't cleaned regularly enough? Is it the scent marking pee?
When I was looking into rodent pets, pigs seemed easier to keep the stank down but could still mark a bit.
How did you find their personality and playfulness compared to rats?
Other sources make out they're less playful.

in my experience i can safely say that dealing with animals is like dealing with hobos. they will allow you to get near them as long as you have food or provide shelter, but they don't see you as anything beyond a dumb provider. animals don't give a shit that you care about animals, they won't come to an agreement with you, they will rip each others out for the scraps you give them. and even then, they're still unpredictable and unreliable, and a single bad day can make them sever the "bond" between you and they'll forget about that so fast it's not even funny.
considering all this i wonder why people like animals at all, and don't feel surprised at the thought that humans used to consider them as little more than living furniture.

Because not all animals are like that. We have instances of wild animals forming lifetime bonds with people even in situations as stressful as wartime. It’s just not that simple. Also see >>4804465

How do we defeat him, /an/?
There must be some vulnerability past these unflinching features contained in this dauntless visage.
A point of failure in his supposed invulnerability we not have as of yet allowed ourselves to perceive.

Can you help me identify this animal? It was living in the water from a fallen bamboo trunk. It's 1mm long, it's segmented, has two antennae the same color as the skin, it has many legs. It grabs others like him and sends them flying.

Macaques can't enjoy things. They can express anger and fear but not happiness because they can't feel it.
Macaques can't have Joy, except for this one:

WHAT IS SPECULATIVE EVOLUTION?
Speculative evolution is the exploration and imagining of how life might evolve in the future or could have evolved in alternate pasts. It's a multimedia sci-fi genre that harnesses scientific principles to create detailed and plausible hypothetical creatures, ecosystems, and evolutionary histories.
