>get off from work (corpocuck job)>too tired to drawi thought it was just a meme but now i understand, this is awful
>get off from work>strong desire to make use of what little free time I have to draw>be neet>choosing to draw instead of sitting and staring at the wall is an impossible taskin one scenario you're going from working to having fun. In the other scenario you're going from doing nothing, to working.
Finally a job opening that I've been waiting for popped up and it's at least 100k/year. The perfect day job. There's no reason for these bastards not to give me the role with the experience I have.
>>7158942This. It is impossible for caffeine to "give you energy", all it does is make you burn through the energy you already have a lot faster. Sleep, nutrition, and staying in shape are what actually give you energy.
>>7158942yep, that's the thing with caffeine. If you sleep like shit it would be the worst thing to drink. You end up even more tired and you'll lose focus quite easily.
>>7158646you're telling me, I do CAD and my brain is already melting by 4 (I get off at 5) and then on top of everything I need to find time and the will to do something creative

>>7170858I had some guy assuming me to be from spain for no other reason than him liking the gardevoir I drew once. And on his profile he was ranting about how "Latinx" -people or whatever are just generally better at art and that it is senseless for him to draw because he will never be as good. Apparently these people are a thing.

What is it about AI art that isn't quite right? Even with the very best ones that get made you can tell by looking more than two seconds that something's wrong but what exactly is it? I was talking to someone about this today but couldn't quite put it into words. It's something to do with the curving around edges of objects but there's more to it.
>>7169771The vast majority of it was pure shit, and I say that as someone who is open to AI. There are some good ones (picrel), but I find they're the ones that don't try to look human-made.The big issue, as I had said earlier in the thread, is that AI images are just kind of boring. It's (usually) Anime characters in undynamic poses being 'cute' or 'sexy', and that's if they're not the overly glossy realistic homunculi humans that AI often churns out.I wish AI image creators would lean into what the AI can do, and make something that's so technically complicated and over the top that no human artist could, or would, create such an image - but they're too busy churning out coom slop and going on /ic/ threads to try and convert people to ever actually make anything that interesting.
>>7169885>The vast majority of it was pure shitWow you just described the experience of opening up /ic/
>>7169985lol, weak AI faggot, why don't you proompt some thicker skin?
>>7165871>Probably why AI ero/hentai looks the bestmost of the time it absolutely mangles nipples.
>>7168828it can barely string together concepts, you have trouble tardwrangling it to even make a character eat a sandwich while making a slightly annoyed face. it gets boring even for my porn addled brain
>everyone uses AI to make high quality emotes and reactions nowMy job as an emote artist is under attack
>>7169947So the artist who uses AI and can paint and make changes to it will be victorious
>>7169361>job > emote artist
>>7169971You as an artist can use AI or other things as references. That’s your own personal choice. Your success as an artist depends on your marketing skills, how you can make your art very valuable and unique. Innovation is key too, and choosing a niche is important
>>7169361Hello saar, please do the kind next time do not type AI in OP, it makes the fooling of americans to dificult!

How and why do bad artists manage to get published?
>>7169232I don't mean literally I mean what do regard as an example of high level skill in regards to cartoons and comics
>>7167942if its interesting it will have a fan base. Ranking of Kings is another good example that isn't a comedy, which is usually easier to connect to an audience with.

How bad is it to completely copy the art style of an artist you like?
>>7169432Not really that bad. Copying styles you like is how a lot of people end up eventually finding their own style, because it spawns from differences you do compared to the artist you're trying to copy.
>>7169432Bad on a professional level, but fine if you're a hobbyist. Eventually - so long as you're not continuously actively trying to ape the artist's style - you'll form your own style.
>>7169432According to /ic/ it's just as bad as Ai copying the artstyle of an artist somebody likes.
>>7169816>>7169982thisit's a master studybtw tracing is fine, too, as long as you are doing it to learn and not to more quickly shit out more products to be consumed
>>7169432It works for the Japanese. The beauty of it is, eventually your own subtle details and nuiances will give birth to YOUR style.Look at Araki for example, the first parts of Jojo were just Fist of the Northstar with wack ass anatomy.

so you're /beg/, that's cute. If you're excited about drawing and are always improving, then you will hit the plateau soon and be miserable like the rest of us. Enjoy your little moment of happiness while you can.
Do you practice urban sketching regularly? Practicing urban sketching is the only thing that gets me out of the house, and it has been essential for me to improve my freehand drawing and observation. I usually only carry 3 fine line pens and a sketchbook, but I'm thinking of getting some watercolors. I usually go to squares that aren't very busy, as I still have difficulty dealing with crowded environments. It's a very positive and therapeutic activity. I used to be very depressed, but when I'm in crisis I always take my materials and go out to draw, regardless of the time of day. I don't think about making beautiful or perfect drawings, I just let the stream of consciousness flow and capture the essence

How do i achieve this level of colour mastery?
>>7169949Satan is a jewish fairytale character
>>7169758this painting is really coolThis dude's reputation is basically some old ghoul who probably eats childrenThe painter took that repution, he draped charles in a vortex of chaos that either looks like hellfire or screaming souls, but he painted his face and hands in a soothing, earthly tone. Charle's demeanor/body language is gentle and the butterfly is such a great detail, as it's unbothered by the madness happening around Charles, like it's not really there, it's just an illusion. This painting goes so far to try and humanize charles, it's pretty genius, it's the single best thing I've ever seen about that guy, it almost convinces me he's a nice person. Also this painting's intensity would probably explode the brain of a victorian peasant and that's also pretty cool to me >>7169949this is why tasteful abstraction in art is so powerful, it allows the human mind to find patterns that aren't really there
>>7169955good analysis, made me appreciate the painting more
>>7169758very normal painting
>>7169758>How do i achieve this level of colour mastery? You don't want to know.Replace -colour- for -EVIL- and you may be into something right there...
The eternal debate. Which side are you on?
>>7168937going larger is usually a worthwhile decision, a large tablet and a large screen beats a mid sized screen tablet to me.
>>7165925left gives you carpal tunnel. right gives you a hunched back.
>>7165925for linework pen because handeye coordination is naturalfor painting tablet because your hand isnt in the way
>>7165925Tablet is more comfy + your hand isnt in the way, but you have to accept thats all youll be able to draw on confidently. With displays i can transition between traditional without feeling like i have to rewire my brain again. It's more natural. Overall i vote displays
>>7165925Traditional. Nothing beats licking and smelling the ink.Digital? who cares, they are the same thing.

Well after skipping a day I was able to come back with this. Decided I'll try to work on doing torsos for a bit. I was feeling less confident yesterday and earlier today, but after this I feel more confident all of a sudden...even though it doesn't look great and is full of issues.
>>7169783it's a visual novel. Im making it for a class, since the final project was a multi media kinda thing meaning you could do whatever as long as it presented an argument of some sort. my argument is "everything will be alright" and im basically just using the girl character to be the optimistic opposite of the player character who's more nihilistic. pretty much they just go on a walk to a store to find food to feed a stray cat and she talks to you and tries making you realized things aren't all so bad. script still in progress, but im glad you were interested.
>>7170061really like your style anon

What are some things/aspects of art that no one (including this board) is really honest about?
>>7158296If you didn't start drawing a lot as a kid, you should honestly pick a different hobby/path. Most late starters will never get good (with some exceptions) because they will get demoralized far easier. Kids won't care that their work sucks, at least not too much. Adults are far more critical.People hate hearing this because it's bleak but it's also true. There is absolutely a point where it's too late. At least, too late to become great and forget about becoming a fucking pro.
>>7164288this pic always hit me hardThis one and the penguin walking towards the mountains

>>7158364>The fastest way to get "organically" popular is to pay big artists to promote youPaying for promo might get your name out there fast, but it isn't organic, it's like buying followers with a bot. Whew boy, is this guy the most overrated painter of all time or what?
>>7166813If you're a complete beginner (or haven't even started), then his paintings look nice. But even then, I have never encountered anyone who said that his paintings were of particular skill. As many anons have said, Bob Ross was liked because he made painting a relaxing thing where you don't have to stress over the end result, and he showed how anyone could do that. He never held himself out as some kind of artistic savant. He just wanted people to paint and chill out.
>>7157654>Hating on Bob RossStill better than 99% off this board.
