https://www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme-court-cfpb-funding/

The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the funding structure for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or CFPB, rescuing the consumer finance agency from another effort by its critics to weaken it.

The court said in a 7-2 decision that the agency's funding structure complies with the Constitution's Appropriations Clause. Justice Clarence Thomas authored the majority opinion. Justices Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch dissented.

"Under the Appropriations Clause, an appropriation is simply a law that authorizes expenditures from a specified source of public money for designated purposes," Thomas wrote. "The statute that provides the bureau's funding meets these requirements. We therefore conclude that the bureau's funding mechanism does not violate the Appropriations Clause."

The decision reverses a ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit that concluded the mechanism for funding the consumer agency was unconstitutional.

Thomas wrote that the statute laying out how the CFPB gets its funding — from the Federal Reserve — fits with the appropriations practices dating back to the First Congress and is similar to schemes used to fund the Post Office and Customs Service, which were established in the late 1700s.

In a dissenting opinion, Alito said the ruling in favor of the CFPB "turns the Appropriations Clause into a minor vestige." He said that under the funding scheme upheld by the court, the consumer watchdog can "bankroll its own agenda without any congressional control or oversight."

"There is apparently nothing wrong with a law that empowers the executive to draw as much money as it wants from any identified source for any permissible purpose until the end of time," Alito wrote. "That is not what the Appropriations Clause was understood to mean when it was adopted."

>Breed of dog mysteriously not mentioned

I read about this on another forum (because OP is too stupid to post the article) and Angie Harmon said it was a mix-breed beagle but part of the problem seems to be that she ordered from some grocery delivery service and was expecting an older woman to drop off her food (the service includes a pic of the delivery driver) and it ended up being a guy and I'm guessing a Black guy, as Blacks are unreasonably terrified of even little yappy dogs.
>>
>>1295506
"CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Actor Angie Harmon has filed a lawsuit against Instacart and one of its former shoppers who fatally shot her dog in March while delivering groceries at her North Carolina home.

The lawsuit filed late last week in Mecklenburg County seeks to hold the shopper and Instacart liable for accusations of trespassing, gross negligence, emotional distress and invasion of privacy, among other allegations. It accuses Instacart of engaging in negligent hiring, supervision, retention and misrepresentation. The suit seeks monetary damages, to be determined at trial.

Instacart says the shopper has since been permanently banned from its platform.

Harmon is known for her work on TV shows including “Law & Order” and “Rizolli & Isles.” She told ABC News that it was “so unfathomable to think that there is somebody in your front driveway that just fired a gun.”

“I think Instacart is beyond responsible for all of this. This didn’t have to happen,” Harmon said in the interview that aired Wednesday on “Good Morning America.” ABC News described the dog as a “beagle mix.”

According to the complaint, Harmon ordered an Instacart groceries delivery from a Charlotte store on March 30. The Instacart app showed a shopper named Merle with a profile photo of an older woman, with whom Harmon believed she was exchanging text messages about her order, the lawsuit says.
Later that day, Harmon was upstairs filling her squirrel feeders when a “tall and intimidating younger man,” not an older woman, showed up to deliver the groceries, the lawsuit says.

Harmon said she heard a gunshot sound and rushed outside. She found her dog, Oliver, had been shot, and saw the delivery person putting a gun into the front of his pants, according to the suit. Her teenage daughters, who had already been outside, were “in distress,” it says. The dog died at the veterinarian’s office."
>>

(Cont.)
"The shopper told police that he shot the dog after it attacked him, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department told news outlets, adding that they did not pursue criminal charges.

In an Instagram post last month about the encounter, Harmon wrote that the shopper “did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn.”

Instacart says it immediately suspended the shopper after receiving the report about the shooting, then later removed him permanently. The company says it runs comprehensive background checks on shoppers, prohibits them from carrying weapons and has anti-fraud measures that include periodically requiring them to take a photo of themselves to ensure the person shopping matches their photo on file.

“Our hearts continue to be with Ms. Harmon and her family following this disturbing incident,” Instacart said in a statement. “While we cannot comment on pending litigation, we have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account has been permanently deactivated from our platform.” "

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/15/biden-tariff-reaction-trump-00158043
DC slammed Trump’s tariffs. Biden’s decision to keep them draws a very different reaction.
The response offers yet another reminder of just how much the U.S. political consensus has shifted against free trade.

Back in 2018, lawmakers of both parties greeted President Donald Trump’s decision to slap tariffs on Chinese imports with widespread derision.

Six years later, most members of Congress are applauding President Joe Biden’s extension — and in some cases, expansion — of those tariffs, if not calling for him to go even further.

The contrasting reactions to similar policy moves just a few years apart is yet another reminder of just how much the U.S. political consensus has shifted against free trade. And it bodes ill for those hoping Washington will be more open to negotiating new trade deals and cutting tariffs after the 2024 election.

“It’s a terrible, unfortunate movement towards protectionism,” Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), one of the few lawmakers to critique Biden’s move, told POLITICO when asked why Washington’s reaction has been so different this time around.

Besides Grassley, free trade advocates have remained largely silent.

I like how your brain completely glossed over the fact that I said you're exactly the same as the Left Wing retards who work entirely for the interests of the Democrat party, and that you fell directly into what I already said in an earlier post, which is that anyone who disagrees with you must be a Democrat. >>1295719
>i-it's not p-propaganda because I believe in it
>it's mantra, okay?
Fucking brainlet.
Here is the definition of propaganda:
>information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
Now, tell me, how unbiased is the phrase "baby murder" if we are having a discussion on abortion? How unbiased is "tearing open a man's asshole?" Yes, the things you listed are ALSO propaganda. You are, quite literally, only seeing one side, which is what propaganda tries to get you to do.
For the record, I think abortion is terrible, but I can tell you why without having to fall back on cheap shock value.
>lol are u high
Are you really going to pretend that Evangelists don't absolutely love to talk about how their political opponents are enemies of God, and therefore servants of Satan? Are we this distant from reality?
>but you are, right?
Yes. I am, at the very least, more right than you are, since I actually arrived at my opinions by thinking about and researching them, rather than by sucking down the rancid jizz of the Republican Party.

That's part of why you're so frustrating; I'd love to talk about the actual reasons you believe what you believe. I enjoy testing what I think against what other people think. I tried to get you to do it for a whole fucking day. But, you can't, can you? You literally cannot remove yourself from what you believe in any meaningful way. You cannot even ENTERTAIN THE IDEA that you COULD be wrong about something, and you see absolutely no problem with this. That's why you're a fucking retard. People who aren't fucking retarded leave a little room for the possibility that they could be wrong about shit.
>but you haven't
Yes I have, you just havem't given me any reason to consider it, because YOU HAVEN'T GIVEN ME ANY REASON AT ALL. You are so incapable of making an argument I had to GUESS at what you believe. I've had more intellectual conversations with actual, literal children.
And are there conspiracies? Yes. US Intelligence is spying on us all, the Bay of Pigs was real, snd the CIA probably killed JFK in the same way the FBI killed MLK. What there ISN'T is a central conspiracy. No one group is in charge. "Billionaire" isn't a cohesive, homogenous group - they compete with and hate each other. They aren't even united in political spheres except in regard to what makes them more money. They're a corrupt Elite exactly what like I described, and they all individually try to make themselves richer. What you describe isn't any more a conspiracy than the fact that Corporations dodge taxes. "Conspiracy" implies it's hidden.
The point of all that, anyway, is that you can't pin ALL problems on ONE group - even one as powerful as the Financial Elite. Everyone contributes to the world being crappy.

Biden proposes June and September debates with Trump, who accepts dates
The president said he will not participate in the traditional televised showdowns organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

President Biden said Wednesday that he will not participate in the decades-old tradition of three fall meetings organized by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, instead calling on his Republican rival Donald Trump to join him for two televised presidential debates in June and September.

Trump responded minutes later saying he accepted Biden’s offer. “I am Ready and Willing to Debate Crooked Joe at the two proposed times in June and September,” he wrote on Truth Social. “I would strongly recommend more than two debates and, for excitement purposes, a very large venue, although Biden is supposedly afraid of crowds.”

“Just tell me when, I’ll be there,” he continued, before referencing a tag line from professional boxing. “'Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!”

The health ministry said the decree was the only way Peru’s public health services could “guarantee full coverage of medical attention for mental health”.

In one recent move, lawmakers banned references to gender equality from school textbooks. That has had a devastating effect on classes intended to prevent domestic assault and femicides.

Percy Mayta-Tristán, a medical researcher at Lima’s Scientific University of the South, said that the decree may have been well-intentioned but it revealed a lack of awareness of complex LGBT issues.

“You can’t ignore the context that this is happening in a super-conservative society, where the LGBT community has no rights and where labelling them as mentally ill opens the door to conversion therapy,” he said.

José Pedro Castillo Terrones served as the President of Peru from 28 July 2021 to 7 December 2022.

Mr Castillo’s first prime minister, Guido Bellido, was known, among other things, for praising Fidel Castro for refusing to allow gay people – whom he described using a derogatory term – to participate in the Cuban revolution

New Yahoo News/YouGov poll: With Trump's trial underway, most Americans now believe he falsified records to hide hush money payment
If the jury agrees, Trump could become the first former U.S. president convicted of a felony.

For the first time, a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that a majority of Americans (52%) believe former President Donald Trump “falsif[ied] business records to conceal a hush money payment to a porn star” — the charge at the center of his ongoing criminal trial in Manhattan.

This represents a new high — and a significant increase from previous Yahoo News/YouGov polls conducted before courtroom testimony began last month, suggesting that coverage of the trial may be shifting perceptions of Trump’s conduct.

If the jury agrees, Trump could become the first former U.S. president convicted of a felony.

In contrast, just 22% of Americans say Trump did not falsify business records to hide a hush money payment to a porn star.

https://www.newsweek.com/greg-abbott-asks-joe-biden-disaster-declaration-texas-extreme-weather-thunderstorms-1901240

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has asked President Joe Biden to issue a Presidential Disaster Declaration for areas of the Lone Star State impacted by recent severe weather and flooding.

Texas has been rocked by inclement weather over the past few weeks, including thunderstorms that have triggered flooding and tornadoes.

In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday Abbott wrote: "Due to severe weather and flooding that continues to cause devastating damage in several of our communities, I am requesting a Presidential Disaster Declaration.

"The extensive damage caused by these severe storms, historic river flooding, and tornadoes requires comprehensive, robust action by all levels of government to help Texans rebuild and recover."

Abbott included a link to a press release from his office, which included his full letter to Biden. In the letter, referring to Texas' ongoing severe weather and flooding, he said: "I have determined that the incident is of such severity and magnitude that an effective response is beyond the capabilities of the state and affected local governments, and that supplementary federal assistance is necessary to save lives and to protect property, public health, and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a disaster."

In his letter Abbott listed 98 Texas counties he said had been severely impacted, of which "27 counties have met the thresholds for Public Assistance and Individual Assistance," while an additional six counties met "the criteria for both programs."
>>
He said: "I am requesting all parts of Public Assistance Categories A through G, including Direct Federal Assistance (DFA) for these twenty-six (26) counties: Bosque, Concho, Coryell, Eastland, Falls, Freestone, Grimes, Hamilton, Hardin, Hill, Houston, Kaufman, Lampasas, Leon, Liberty, Limestone, Madison, McCulloch, Milam, Mills, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, San Saba, Trinity, and Walker Counties."

The governor also asked to access the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program state wide, and the U.S. Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Program "for physical and economic loss for all counties requested."

Newsweek contacted the White House for comment by email at 2:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.

According to the official FEMA website: "The President can declare an emergency for any occasion or instance when the President determines federal assistance is needed."

If this takes place, up to $5 million can be spent on disaster relief without reporting to Congress, though this figure can be increased with approval from the legislature.

On May 14 Biden issued a disaster declaration for the state of Iowa following "severe storms and tornadoes from April 26 to April 27, 2024."

On May 1 heavy rainfall in Texas caused flooding along the Trinity River affecting Harris County after dangerous flash floods hit the area around the east Texan city of Galveston.

On April 24 an "extreme fire behavior warning" was issued by the National Weather Service for the El Paso region of Texas, just across from the Mexican border.

Donald Trump is continuing to see possible warning signs for his White House bid as significant numbers of people are still voting against him in the GOP primary.

On Tuesday, the presumptive 2024 Republican candidate continued his domination in the primaries with resounding victories in Maryland, Nebraska and West Virginia, winning 80 percent, 79.6 percent and 88.4 percent of the votes in the respective states.

However, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who dropped out of the race two months ago, is still receiving a notable number of votes against the former president, winning 20 percent of the vote in Maryland, or more than 47,500 votes, and 17.8 percent in Nebraska, which amounts to nearly 37,000 ballots.

While Trump easily secured the GOP presidential nomination, winning all but two of the primary races, there have been signs that the former president is struggling to fully win over Republicans beyond his MAGA base as waves of voters continue to support Haley.

Haley was seen as a more moderate Republican candidate in the GOP primary, with moderates and independents seen as potentially vital to Trump's hopes of taking back the White House from President Joe Biden in November.

There have been multiple polls which suggest that Haley supporters will not go on to vote for Trump in the 2024 election, with Biden's campaign team also said to be hoping to win over these disillusioned Republicans.

In addition to biden's anal cancer he had removed in 2021, he apparently has been suffering from aneurysms and blood clots as far back as 1988, passing out from strokes and waking up on the floor.
He even had a priest besides his hospital bed to read him his last rights.
This doesn't bother Biden, he's used to waking up on the ground during his daily activities such as walking up stairs or riding bikes.

Biden once nearly died of an aneurysm.

Joe Biden awoke suddenly in his hotel room, curled up on the floor and fully clothed, and felt an electric surge inside his head, “a rip of pain like I never felt before,” as he later recalled. It was 4:10 a.m. on a winter day in 1988

The debilitating headaches had been happening for nearly a year, interrupting his first presidential campaign as the 45-year-old Biden popped up to 10 Tylenols a day. He had been diagnosed with a pinched nerve and for a time wore a cervical collar. Now, as he lay on the floor of his hotel room in Rochester, N.Y., the pain was even worse. His legs felt dead, and he struggled to turn his head.

Instead of heading to an emergency room, Biden flew home with an aide to Wilmington, Del. Awakened hours later by even greater pain, he rushed to St. Francis Hospital. It wasn’t a pinched nerve. Doctors found blood in his spinal fluid, and then a dangerous balloon-shaped bulge — an aneurysm — on an artery wall at the base of the brain. Even worse, Biden’s aneurysm had already burst, leaking blood around the base of his brain.

The danger was immense, it could be fatal.

https://apnews.com/article/biden-china-tariffs-electric-vehicles-evs-solar-2024ba735c47e04a50898a88425c5e2c

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration announced plans to slap new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, advanced batteries, solar cells, steel, aluminum and medical equipment — an election year move that’s increasing friction between the world’s two largest economies.

The tariffs come in the middle of a heated campaign between President Joe Biden and his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, in which both candidates are vying to show who’s tougher on China.

The Chinese government was quick to push back, issuing a statement Tuesday that the tariffs “will seriously affect the atmosphere of bilateral cooperation.” The foreign ministry used the word “bullying.”

The tariffs are unlikely to have much of an inflationary impact because of how they’re structured. Administration officials said they think the tariffs won’t escalate tensions with China, yet they expect China will explore ways to respond to the new taxes on its products. It’s uncertain what the long-term impact on prices could be if the tariffs contribute to a wider trade dispute.

The tariffs are to be phased in over the next three years, with those that take effect in 2024 covering EVs, solar cells, syringes, needles, steel and aluminum and more. There are currently very few EVs from China in the U.S., but officials worry low-priced models made possible by Chinese government subsidies could soon start flooding the U.S. market.

The OP article would have named the baseball hat and bicycle tariffs if they still existed (they don't). The truly hilarious part is that you're still trying to blame this on Dems in the damage control thread made in response to this one.

Op article clearly isn't a definitive list of every tariff currently against China, nor does it claim to be.
Meanwhile, every other source says your wrong: >>1295541

You really are a shit poor shill

Yes it actually does claim to be but thanks for playing. You lost. Trump lost. Biden isn't continuing the tariffs on bicycles or baseball hats. Get over it already.

An app that marketed itself as 4chan's tinder had a data leak. An analysis document reveals it was basically a honeypot to harvest data of 'incels' and 'femcels' setup by the EU.

Whoah, unexpected!

Considering basically everything including legitimate corporations have had data leaks, not surprising. Also there was some major corporation that had a data leak and lot of leaked data was people who weren't customers and didn't have an account, but their sensitive data was purchased from a third party.

Safeguard your data, anons

false, but only men use this app

I had never even heard of this thing before the ""leak""
My guess is all of the user data was fabricated. It's a sentiment operation.

They bought ad space in here
Looking at the data it doesn't look like anything was actually hacked, it looks like the leak is actually just API scraping because if you look at Fields such as "mutual clubs" you can tell this data was all gathered from the perspective of someone's individual account rather than a database dump
