My mom cleared out her basement and gave me her old 110 camera she used back in the day. Anyone ever shot with this format? Looks like a roll is ~$10 and dev is $12 for 24 exposures. I don’t have high hopes since the negatives are so small, but it’s portable

I mean...if you want to play with it just because, go ahead. But 110 and Kodak Disc were dog shit. They looked bad at 3x5.

i'd shoot lots of 110 if i could bulk roll hp5 and find a reel for patterson tanks that doesn't look skuffed

sounds like you just didn't look and wanted us to do the work for you, faggot, there's plenty of results for 110 reels on ebay from reputable brands and offbrand chinese
>b-but skuffed
what does that even mean?

Looks like something Zach will take 10 years from now

Alright, now is the time to buy.

Apparently hollywood is using soviet photo glass for movies now. Companies are rehousing them into film lenses.

Dune 2 was shot entirely on old Soviet glass.

I know the Helios m42 is legend. what else should I look at.

I am on L mount.

the Helios was a bit of an odd choice in this scene imo, it's just the emperor talking about politics with his daughter but the swirl makes it feel like a dizzying dream

I plan on getting a camera for decent feet photography. Most of the images I see are very unprofessional and of much lower quality than they could be. It would also be ideal if I could record decent 4K video with this camera.

People who like feet want real women's feet. If it's a real woman, then you know there's a chance you could meet her one day and get a chance to sniff her feet and slobber all over them for hours.

I NEED to know his website. I discovered this website that posts hot photos of teens around a year ago. It doesn't fit the definition of pornography, so it's perfectly legal. I imagine "subtle" images of feet would also not fit the definition of pornography, but so far, I haven't been able to find any websites featuring plenty of photos of teen feet.

>Le manufacturers lie
Have you ever actually looked it up?

Sony/canon/nikon ISOs are all about 1/3 of a stop slower than the film standard is meant to be, barely anything

Only fuji/olympus/panasonic are further off than that (2/3-1 stops slower than stated), because they mostly sell crop sensors and mislabeling ISO makes it easier for the marketing liars to say they have good dynamic range.

>>4309893
>There is no such thing as ISO
Not in dual gain cameras. They have two gain circuits that have different shadow recovery characteristics.
>Sticking to ISO 100 when a shot calls for slightly more (like 1/3 of a stop) actually degrades quality.
No it doesn't because 1/3 of a stop more ISO is within that gain stage, only aperture and shutter speed actually control how much light you get into the camera. That becomes a question when you're choosing say, ISO 200 or 400 on a camera where the second gain stage kicks in between 200 and 400. Then shoot at the second base ISO and you get less noise. If you recover shadows past the second base ISO it also typically looks a bit worse than just shooting at that ISO but who the fuck would recover more than 3 stops of exposure
>>
For some reason one day I woke up and just stopped giving a shit about noise. 400? 800? 1600? Fuck it, we ball. Too noisy? Shrink the image by 20% in post. Looks fine. Fuck the police. Way more important to have a sharp/stable image. Push that shutter speed to the fucking moon. Push it. Force it. Make it your bitch.
>>
>>4309954

Holy mother of based.
>>
Now that ISO invariance is a thing there is no reason (except jpegs) to change ISO on the camera rather than shooting at 100 and pushing 6 stops in post. You're just throwing away headroom for no benefit. I don't know why they don't just make ISO an exif field that tells your RAW program to push it rather than changing the actual pixel values.
>>4309893
>The electronics can ETTR better than you can fiddling with ISO
They could, but they don't because camera manufacturers are stuck in this dumb "muh jay pegs must look good" mindset. It would be so easy with mirrorless, you're reading off the whole frame anyway, you could just find the brightest pixel and adjust exposure so that the brightest channel is at 2^14 or whatever the max pixel value is. Nikon even has a mode that claims to do this ("highlight-weighted metering") but I've caught it both over and underexposing the raw files presumably to make the jpegs look better.

Because it's been the ergonomic preference the majority for like, 40 years, to control aperture in a user-set increment using a dial on the grip.
>>
>>4311544
+ Adding one or two tiny plastic dials on camera is much easier and cheaper than adding aperture ring on lens
>>
>>4311522
Actually I could pass on the manual aperture ring, when I had a Fuji I just controlled it with the front dial. That being said having an iso and dedicated exposure comp dial was legitimately useful and should be on more cameras instead of just restricted to 'retro' cameras.
>>
>>4311546
There was a period where people had both and people actually wanted the aperture ring gone because it would accidentally get bumped and it would make the controls confusing to have two aperture controls

Lenses without the aperture ring came out. Reception as positive. People chose the scroll wheel.

>>4311555
Sony actually has this layout. Front is aperture, rear left is shutter, rear right is exposure compensation, rear bottom can be mapped to ISO.

It's really annoying and preferable to at least map ISO to a button instead, because there's so many dials that inevitably one is easy to bump.
>>
>>4311564

The fuji dials have a push button lock to prevent bumping. Do Sonys have the same?

You can't tell me one real pro of crop sensors. There's absolutely no point of APS-C when full frame exists. It's not as small, compact or economical as micro four thirds nor do you get the resolution and capability of FF. I guess it's just so that people can feel like they're larping as FF. FF is isn't even that much more expensive most of the time so being a poorfag is the only excuse

>They're small because they're fixed aperture primes with a storage position.
>Just consoomer cucking that could have been done as easily on a DSLR.
Nope, because they are f/11 an optical viewfinder wouldn't realy work well with such lenses.
And neither would the AF sensors in most DSLRs.
>Better sensors
>You mean better noise reduction.
Not realy, the sensors themselfes have also gotten better at producing a higher signal/noise ratio to begin with.
Noise reduction has gotten better as well, but that's not what I was talking about.
Anyway, they are just about the only lenses with that kind of range on FF that are not super bulky/heavy
>>
>>4311357
>show me one wide angle lens for DSLRs that doesn't require complicated retrofocal optics
Here you go, unless you consider a 5 element design "complicated".
>>
>>4311442
Canon sensors have gotten better because they were subpar to begin with, and mostly they got better at applying forced NR.
>>
>>4311374
>Zeiss made lens systems capable of projecting in excess of 200 000 lp/mm
Which one is that?
>>
>>4311465
A system they designed for ASLM wich is used by TSMC now, operates in EUV (13,5 nm) and is a purely mirror based system.
Light starts to behave weird at that kind of wavelength as lenses stop working and nothing reflects it well anymore.
So they had to come up with a whole new type of Mo/Si multilayer mirror system that had to be absolutely defect free.

I have heard very very good things about the Ricoh GRIII on YouTube and Reddit and am about ready to pull the trigger to make photography fun again and have a camera that is truly always with me so I don't miss any special moments.

But recently I have checked some of the photos from the camera on Instagram and they seem really poor. The smearing is almost worse than an iPhone 15 Pro and it's a lot bigger and almost the same price. Has anyone here actually used one or have links to good photos taken with them? I don't want to waste money if it is just a meme and not actually good.

I'm a bandwagon iPhone phototaker going down the Fujifilm rabbit hole.

First about to buy the Fujifilm XV100, didn't so almost ordered a Ricoh griii hdf, kept going and looking at Olympus Pen F, nope. Now I am at Sigma fp.

now considering Nikon d70s, for ccd

Where does this stop? :o
Where does this path finally end?

It ends when you decides it ends. I rediscovered a photo I took a couple year ago and I thought it was decent. Then I remembered my hating it because my camera is shitty and makes a bunch of grain. I tried to find some bullshit ai app to try to fix it but it didn't work. Now I like the roughness of it.

It actually ends when you have a very nice camera, and a very shit camera. The gulf between the two will make you appreciate each.

Don't fall for the film meme that just starts a whole other gearfaggotry quest full of cope because the sunk costs only grow and there are no refunds.

It never ends. You will eventually find something like >>4310799 said. But what happens then is that your style of shooting will change, or your hobbies outside photography will change, or your subject matter will change and then you'll start the whole process over again. It really never ends, learn to enjoy it and only buy what you can afford to lose 30% of your money on.

It's either that or start shooting film.

lets be real "normal" interchangeable lens cameras fit everything you could do perfectly well and it takes borderline schizophrenic neuroticism like "everyone can see my camera because it has a viewfinder bump and its ruining my shots and it looks so much bigger on pxlmag" to convince yourself otherwise

>a Kodak CCD like an Epson RD1(s)
I thought the R-D1 used the same Sony-made sensor as the Nikon D100 and the Pentax istD.

I was browsing flickr today and came across this photo taken with a Canon Powershot G9.

How was this effect achieved?

Horse feet move when they're running, buildings don't move. Notice how blurred the building in the background is?

I might have to send Elon an message and see what we can do.
