I read Clarissa the last night. It was interesting for the psychological element of it for sure, but honestly, I didn't get that sad or perturbed by it. At most I felt kinda bad for Clarissa and maybe a bit grossed out but that was it. The bath one elicited the strongest response. Aladdin was the best, the golden king. I prefer action/adventure to purely comedic silliness so I liked it the best. Tarzan would be second place. I guess Hercules is third but it was overly comedic for me, it didn't have the balance of action and comedy that I thought Aladdin perfected. Don't really care enough about the rest to rank them.
Even as a kid I disliked all of them, even when not compared to the movies they're just not fun on their own, but when compared to the movies they're complete downgrades and it's usually the fact that they DO have to be based on the movies that causes a lot of the issuesMost characters become simple and flanderized concerned with petty issues and nonsense, big changes that were allowed to occur thruout a single one off movie now had to happen again and again and again or flipflop between having happened and having not happened because an episodic show can't work quite the same way as a movie can, they relied to much on repetitive formulas and nothing had any excitement to it, it didn't feel like you were watching more of the adventures of a character you love, it felt like you were watching them in another reality where they were a boring motherfucker. Characters that largely benefitted from being one-off appearances in a movie, either because their personalities are too much, or they cannot be utilized well enough consistently, or are written to best serve the purpose they served in the movie, were brought back and oversaturated and overused. Overall I just don't think what works for a movie, works for a show.But what do I know? I never watched any of them.
