>>41091875yeh sorry for the shit example. what i used to do when i first started shading is i would put a circle on the canvas with beams shooting out to represent the rays of light and the angle itd be at to help figure out how to lay the shadows like >pic rel. also keep in mind where you want the light coming from like infront of the mare or behind. in this mares case its directly to the left of her meaning the shadows will be cast directly to the right as shadows will always be perpendicular to the light source. hope that helps.
