>>1757610It's because there were low numbers of people playing them so paradox won't waste dev time on adding them.
Help me pick between:>Blobbing as a Hittite in the bronze age mod>Blobbing in the Roman fall mod, if so then as who and with what objective?>Blobbing in the Shogunate mod + Korea, if so then as who and with what objective?>Blobbing in a(which?) East Asia mod, if so then as who and with what objective?>Blobbing in StellarisAlso for the love of God and all that is holy tell me of some difficulty/behaviour mod that makes the game more difficult and dynamic, I can already see from a mile away that even if I were to start a Manchu game with the intention to blob into China the latter would just sit on their ass for hundreds of years, waiting passively for me to get strong enough to rape them.

>>1763407In Undaunted Stalingrad, the boardgame I used as example, you can absolutely fail a few missions in the beginning but feel good about it because you've killed a lot of the opponents' units, meaning they won't be available in later missions, meaning he'll have a crippled fighting force and you will have an advantage over him despite losing certain locations. In RTS i can see much more done with a system like this, but it'll also need either transparency like the boardgame has, or an "intelligence report" where you're told not all but some of how badly you fucked the opponent over by focusing on the killing while allowing the objective to get lost. Maybe in that pvp RTS campaign you could pick the next battle out of a small list if you lost the previous one, that might be interesting as well.

I'm playing through the campaign and I'm not liking it that much. Infinitely spawning enemies appearing from the edge of the map is such fucking garbage design.
The other factions all look pretty cool, but I don't just want to play skirmishes over and over again. is there any content for them? I know the story campaign is Sigmarines, but is there like other single player modes?

...What does /vst/ think about this game?I don't play a lot of rts games. A bit of Starcraft 1, Warcraft III, Age of Empires II, Stronghold Crusader, back in the 00's. Played a bit of Halo Wars when it released. Played a bit of Crusader Kings II last year, but really that's about all of my experience with the genre, and I'd never call myself competitive or really invested in any of those games. Went back to Halo Wars and for some reason it really got its hooks in me recently. As a Halo fan I think it's a really authentic feeling Halo game. As an extremely casual rts player and someone who prefers action games, I appreciate its simplicity and ease of use, and how it seems a bit faster paced than other rts games. And now, when I say it got its hooks in me, I've started not only playing it a lot, but I've also started watching videos about its meta and nuances, and I guess to me it seems like it's a really well designed game too. I'm not playing competitively or anything, but it's a game I've started to get better at. Does /vst/ like it? How do rts players feel about it?thread to discuss Halo Wars and also similar games, if there are anywould be interested to know if there's anything out there that plays similarly
It's the prophet for me
>>1762425I'm still annoyed the Covenant has an engineer that can heal units, but Humans have no way to heal the infantry, and the only unit that can repair is the Aliens exoskeleton who is exclusive to one of the Commander.Infantry do get the medic, but it doesn't seem to work everytime. And flamers don't get it anyway.
>>1762440the Engineer is one of the best most underrated units in the game. Once you get their faster healing upgrade, if you can get a ball of 10-12 of them they basically can't be killed by anything except scarabs. Pair this with any group of infantry or vehicles and you can just cruise around the map getting veterancy on all your combat units, which increases their health and damage. I love the Engineers. The way Medic works for the marines is it heals every soldier in a squad when they're out of combat. Halo Wars actually considers the individual soldiers within each infantry unit, so if two soldier die, but you have three left, Medic will heal the soldiers to full health, but won't bring back the ones that were killed. I think this actually reduces the amount of damage a squad can do too: less soldiers = less firepower. But, if you use the Heal and Repair power it will resurrect the dead soldiers. >>1762425Prophet is definitely high tier. Debateably actually just the best Covenant unit because he gets the flying upgrade which lets you just fly anywhere in the map. With the Covie unit teleporting this can be really devastating. Then he gets the glassing beam, which is really powerful in the late game, Honor Guards are powerful infantry, he's all around pretty great.
>>1762468>>The way Medic works for the marines is it heals every soldier in a squad when they're out of combat. Halo Wars actually considers the individual soldiers within each infantry unit, so if two soldier die, but you have three left, Medic will heal the soldiers to full health, but won't bring back the ones that were killed. It's pretty shit.As much as I love the JSDF, I like the engineers so damn much. And I hate using powers.
>>1757253>As an extremely casual rts player and someone who prefers action games, I appreciate its simplicity and ease of useLiterally me, I find it hard finding an RTS where its slow enough to manage everything on the battlefield. Wish you could dedicate units to AI and give general objectives such as "Advance to position" and unit would using cover or seeking favorable engagements and avoiding bad ones, advance to position. But alas no RTS has micro ruled out thus far. Only ones that try do so through unit number limits. From me I can only recommend Endwar which was another console born RTS/RTT which has a lot of pew-pew for action game fans but is easy enough to get into.
I want to get Total War: Warhammer but all the DLCs and faction unlocking is confusing. If I want to play mainly as a Chaos faction, what should I get? Would the DLC for W1 called Chaos Warriors be enough? Or should I buy it alongside W2? W3?
About first Total War: Warhammer: think of it as DLC to the third game. So get Total War: Warhammer 3 and Champions of Chaos. Later you can get Chaos Warriors - it will add few extra playable factions. If you get Chaos Warriors before Champions of Chaos you will not have access to many units.
>>1764596Yeah it is a confusing mess. There is an official list at https://www.totalwar.com/blog/tww3_immortalempires_240_faq/ but it lacks info on the units thaat are locked behind them which can be important.Basically think of Warhammer 3 as the base game, everything else is just dlc including Warhammer 1 and 2. And technically you can use cream api to pirate the dlc if you have the base game, although I'm not really knowledgeable about that. Now for your case with playing Chaos you have multiple options. The Warriors of Chaos race pack from game 1. That gives you acces to Archaon, Sigvald and Kholek as lords and the undivided roster. The other option is the newer Champions of Chaos dlc which gives a lord for each of the gods, the undivided roster and the marked roster.Be'lakor is part of base WH3 but afik only has a limited undivided roster unless you have the dlc.
God, I can't imagine being a new player to this seriesIt really is a fucking mess
>>1764596If you want chaos, get WH3 and the champions of chaos DLC. If you want a bit extra you can get the Warriors of chaos pack for 3 more lords.
Just get base W3 game and creamapi the dlc for free..Look up the creamapi as you clearly don't know what it is.

>>1764322I like eyeless the most for the healing.
>>1758387Amplitude's DLC formula is inherently flawed because it introduces a mechanic and then uses the mechanic as the main gimmick of a new faction, who do it strictly better than others. This inherently makes the mechanic feel like a bad spinoff version for all the existing factions, despite competing for resources against all the base game mechanics. I wish they focused on introducing more minor factions since they were one of the more interesting elements of the game, since they added new base units that all factions could use.
>>1757861>talk about the game.It was okay as a single player 4X.Unbalanced. Doesn't direct players to help one another to take down someone ahead before they win.DLCs are about adding a new dimension, but only the DLC faction is any good at the new dimension, and can't do normal stuff well.Filled with bugs.Save files always corrupt, quests are completed on loading, you get resources from DLCs you don't own.Last time I tried to play the game, clicking on the hero upgrade panel froze the game.>Do you wish for a sequel? From DEI Amplitude? No. Endless Legend was made in a different era even with its stronk matriarchal braniac vikings, Le Queen, and Le Black Faction.I wouldn't mind an RPG that explored its land. Post games with the best terraforming
>>1763912Space 4x terraforming is boring. It's always just "planet goes from X penalty to Y benefit". There isn't really any room for interesting terraforming in them because it's not really the focus. Just a way for you to turn research into expansion.
SimEarth
>>1762046The atmospheric simulation in SimEarth is really deep. It's basically an experimental model for the Gaia Hypothetsis - i.e. that life is heavily involved in the maintenance of Earth's climate. The problem is other aspects aren't that deep, I was always disappointed with its simulation of the regular ecology. If it was remade, I'd add different levels of a food chain - from bacteria up. Instead, the current game only allows one kind of non-plant life in any given tile - which is lame.
>>1760372per aspera is a game about terraforming mars. the terraforming part was interesting and visually responsive.HOWEVER i only played it on release and did not finish it. it was very prone to bugs (bugs in worker pathfinding, bugs in the sequence you get to hear story segments in, for example, lines that imply you know something which you actually haven't uncovered yet, or talking like something you've discovered a while ago is new information) and i believe it was possible to get yourself into a position that you can't progress from by expanding too quick or exhausting resources or something like that.that said, the terraforming really was cool and the presentation was nice and the game stuck in my mind despite not being able to finish it. it might be patched now, so it could be more stable so you decide if it's worth it. i'd recommend pirating it though. and making sure you're not pirating the 1.0 version
